Penguinos Lego Research Project
We are a group of students in the fifth grade at the Phillips Brooks School who are working on a climate project. We have found out that global warming will cause a major water shortage in our community. In this project we are trying to find ways that we can use to help water conservation. Some ideas we came up with and some we found with a little bit of researching. The big problem is that in Northern California we are running out of fresh water. The sea levels are rising and the salt water is getting mixed up in our fresh water deltas. It's making them all salty. Also, the snow pack is melting very fast so we're going to have a lot of water in some places and in others none. It's a pretty big problem.
We decided to look at household water use to see if we could help there. There are not many farms in the area. Farms need lots of water to make their crops grow. However, in our local area, water use is mostly in households.

Here's what we found about household water usage:
As you can see, landscaping is more than half of your water use, so we came up with some ideas to help you save water on your landscaping.
